One interesting tool that I wanted to get a look at before leaving NAB 2011 was Silverstack SET from Pomfort. It’s an “All-in-one workflow solution for the set” hence the name Silverstack SET. I had seen an early demo a year or so ago and I really liked the interface and design of the application but since it was more geared toward on-set use I didn’t follow up on it until this year.
It’s still geared for on-set use and one of the main things missing from a post-production perspective is the ability to transcode camera original files to editorial. But the developers know this and that was one of the first things they commented on. Hopefully this is on the top of their priority list as it looks like quite a nice solution that I don’t think many people know about.
Current supported camera formats are ARRI Alexa, RED, Canon DSLR and GoPro. It feels a little bit like the Foundry’s STORM but it supports a lot more formats than just RED. Check out all the details and prices at pomfort.com and try out the free demo.
