The Kino Flo BarFly 100 1

Tom Jacob of Kino Flo gives us a little demo of the Kino Flo BarFly 100 at the Hurlbut HDSLR Bootcamp. During Shane Hurlbut’s HDSLR Bootcamp, we got to play with some awesome gear. One of these was the Kino Flo BarFly 100. This is a handy light to have if you’re shooting in low light.

During Shane Hurlbut’s HDSLR Bootcamp, we got to play with some awesome gear. One of these was the Kino Flo BarFly 100. This is a handy light to have if you’re shooting in low light. Of course, depending on your model and lens, one of the beauties about shooting with the HDSLR is that many times it doesn’t require anything additional to what’s available. It’s nice to have a good light in case you’ve over shot the low light capabilities of your rig. We used this particular light to fill in an open trunk where a body lay. It’s small, lightweight and it was easy to use for our purposes. We wanted to see the hands and a slight sillouette of the body, but it wasn’t the main focus of the scene. Tom with Kino Flo actually filled in as the body himself! Controlling flourescent light is like trying to herd kittens. Flourescent light tends to go where it wants to, but Kino Flo has come up with some nice egg crate options which contain the light nicely. The Kino Flo BarFly retails for $685.00.
