According to a recent Forrester report, about one-third of all enterprises have already subscribed to software-as-a-service applications, or plan to do so within the next year.
The report surveyed nearly 2,200 IT executives and technology decision-makers from a variety of midsized and small businesses in North America and Europe.
The difficult economic climate has resulted in many companies being backed up in their software upgrade activities, and many are planning to rectify the situation in the coming year. Finance and accounting software,CRM applications, and industry-specific software were among the systems targeted for upgrades.
SaaS was a growing operation, though one senior Forrester analyst said that some might be surprised that large enterprises are adopting it quicker than small businesses.
