North Plains Expands Asia Pacific Presence with New Subsidiary in Japan

North Plains, the leader in helping companies leverage their visual media assets, today announced that it has recently opened a new subsidiary and office in Tokyo, Japan. The new subsidiary, North Plains K.K., strengthens North Plains’ commitment to business in Asia Pacific and adds to the company’s strong global presence.  North Plains’ new Asia Pacific headquarters will enable the company to better serve customers as well as build new relationships with channel partners throughout the region. North Plains K.K. will be led by Yojiro Nishimura, General Manager for Asia Pacific.

“There is a huge demand in Asia Pacific for solutions to better manage and utilize rich media assets in the creative media and marketing space, but the market for rich media management solutions has not been well established yet. This market creates a great opportunity for North Plains to better serve this market and our many valued customers, as well as forge new relationships in this region,” said Nishimura.

As the need for localized, relevant and branded content becomes a global marketing challenge, North Plains is uniquely positioned to help global brand managers, marketers, content creators, publishers and media companies to be more agile in the production, management and leveraging of marketing and brand assets worldwide. Headquartered in Toronto and with offices in London, England; Munich, Germany; Berkeley, California; and now Tokyo, Japan, North Plains is increasing its momentum in establishing itself as the worldwide leader in rich asset management. With channel partners already in Japan (Visual Processing Japan) and Australia (Nexus), North Plains’ Tokyo office is immediately focused on supporting the company’s growing presence in Japan, Australia and the rest of the Asia Pacific region.

As the new General Manager for the region, Nishimura’s experience in sales and professional services will help drive rapid adoption and growth in the territory.  Prior to joining North Plains, Nishimura was senior manager at Autodesk and Alias Systems.  During this time, Nishimura was responsible for business development and delivery management of professional services in the rich media markets of Games, Feature Films, Broadcasting, Automobile and Manufacturing.  Nishimura started the services business in the Asia Pacific region and grew it to multi-million dollars in annual revenue venture in just a few years.  Nishimura has educational backgrounds in engineering and a MBA from GLOBIS University in Japan.

“An Asia Pacific subsidiary and a local office in Tokyo is a natural extension of our global expansion, enabling us to provide localized support and ensure we have the best resources possible to address the needs of our customers and our partners worldwide,” said James Christopher, President and CEO of North Plains. “I am especially excited that Yojiro joined us to lead our Asia Pacific activities as he has a wealth of experience in understanding the region, the high-tech industry, and a proven track record of driving strategic and business growth.”
