A few weeks ago, we published our ninth electronic newsletter: PVC Pipeline | Distribution, which included tutorials on the workflow from Final Cut Pro to burning a Blu-ray disc plus how to quickly get your video up on the web, as well as an interview with David Dudas of Sorenson including a review of Sorenson 360 video server service. These articles are now available for all PVC visitors to view; a list of them is included below.

Our next PVC Pipeline newsletter will return to the theme of Production. In it, Adam Wilt will give an in-depth review of the new Sony PMW-350 XDCAM EX camcorder, Steve Hullfish will provide a tutorial review of the AJA KiPro, and Richard Harrington will moderate a shootout between the Canon 5D mkII, Canon 7D, and Nikon D300s DSLRs that also shoot HD video. To receive exclusive access to these articles before everyone else, click here for your free subscription!

PVC Pipeline | Distribution #3:

Blu-ray and Final Cut Studio

by Richard Harrington

There’s a good chance that HD has become a major player (or even the only format) in your work. With the latest incarnation of Final Cut Studio, Apple offers several ways to deliver HD. You can of course go back to tape or create downloadable and streaming H.264 files. Most requested though, is the ability to create Blu-ray discs.

ADHD Guide to Flash Video for the Web

by Art Adams

I hate reading manuals. They don’t tell me what I want to know in the order I want to know it. I’d rather figure things out on my own, or if that learning curve is too steep, have someone show me in the basic concepts. I can usually figure out the rest later. For example, when I first sat down to learn DVD Studio Pro, the manual drove me insane. An editor explained the basic concepts to me in five minutes or less, after which building a DVD became intuitive and easy.

I sought out the same information for encoding and using Flash for the web, and Adobe was kind enough to school me in the basics. Now I get it. I know exactly what I need to do, no more and no less, to create Flash video for the web. Let me share with you what I learned:

Sorenson 360 video server service

by Steve Hullfish

Sorenson – known widely for its compression software, Squeeze, has recently launched a video publishing server service that integrates with Squeeze, but can also be used with nothing more than a web browser to encode files. The new service is called Sorenson 360.

Most magazines or blogs prefer to separate interviews from tutorials from reviews, but this article will be a unique hybrid offering a little of all three. To start, we’ll learn a little about the service from my interview with Sorenson Media’s VP of Product Development, David Dudas.
