The new version of DVMP Pro will play AVCHD m2ts/mts and HDV m2t files while displaying the AVCHD or DV metadata (timecode, recording date/time, shutter speed, f-stop, white balance etc) with frame accuracy. You can also single-frame step forward or backward and examine the metadata changing frame by frame.
This is a real breakthrough, as we don’t know of any other software that can do this.
There is also a tool to burn-in any of this metadata (timecode and date/time stamping will probably be the most frequently used) into the visible frame area of AVCHD, HDV or DV files. The output is compressed to AVI files using a user-selected intra-frame compressor from the list already installed on their PC.
There are also a couple of new Batch Processor operations which examine a variety of camcorder video file types, and extract the start date and time that the video was recorded. One of the tools then sets the file’s “Date modified” file property to the recording date/time, and the other tool appends the recording date/time to the file name (e.g. “myfile 2009-02-23 13.38.56.m2t”). These tools allow you to easily see when your video files were actually recorded (rather than when they were created on the hard drive).
The cool thing is that these two tools can do this for a wide variety of camcorder file types: DV AVI, Raw DV (.dv), MPEG-2 MOD (.mod), HDV 1080 and 720 variants (.m2t), and AVCHD (.m2ts/.mts)
There’s also a DV Capture module which can do live capture, and splits capture files on-the-fly. It also has a “slave to camera” feature.
There are also several player enhancements.
