Media Composer 101 – Best of Free – MPEG Streamclip

Media Composer 101 - Best of Free - MPEG Streamclip 1

In this lesson, Kevin P McAuliffe answers another question that was asked in the “Avid Editors of Facebook” group about exporting MP4’s from Media Composer!

There are always great questions asked in the “Avid Editors of Facebook” group, and they always spark ideas for new tutorials.  This is just one of those lessons.  Someone asked about exporting MP4’s from Media Composer, and how they were having issues with the export, as well is it taking forever.  Well, just because you can don something in your NLE, doesn’t mean that you should.  I recommended a great free utility called “MPEG Streamclip” to use.  Simply export your sequence from Media Composer via QuickTime Same as Source, or via QuickTime Reference, and you can then use MPEG Streamclip to create great looking MP4’s in the background, while you continue to edit.  Now, I’m always reminded by viewers that MPEG Streamclip hasn’t had an update in a couple years, but to be honest, does that really matter?  It’s free, and it’s great, and you should download for Mac or Windows (yes, it’s available for both) right now!
