There are so many times that editors get footage that producers think might be unusable, and we always seem to manage a way to get that footage into our edits, and we get the footage in, in a way that looks like it was supposed to be there all along. That’s the idea at the core of our last lesson, in our look at editing Music Videos. Normally an editor will receive all the multicam footage, plus other footage that the director might shoot as “one-offs”, that can be used as cool cutaways. The problem that you, the editor, will run into immediately is that depending on the budget, you have no idea how the footage will come back to you, and in the example we’re going to look at, the singer in our video is obviously in someone’s living room, and we need to make it look like he’s singing in a studio
