me forms Technology Partnership with Vernon

Digital Asset Management and Collection Management come together with lookat.me and Vernon CMS

Melbourne, Australia, 6th July 2009 – Vernon Systems, a leading provider of software for Collections Management, has joined the Media Equation join.me partner program to offer an integrated solution for Collections Management and Digital Asset Management. This extends both companies’ objective to provide institutions with meaningful ways for people to share and discover collections online.

The partnership allows Vernon and me to work together on a powerful integrated solution. lookat.me can run as a SaaS (Software as a Service) solution with a low cost of deployment, no software installation and a rapid time to market. This partnership is an acknowledgement of the growing, global interest shown by museums, galleries and libraries to manage their digital assets appropriately. According to CMS Watch ‘A piece of content does not become an asset until it has been classified, indexed, versioned, secured, stored, possibly reformatted or canonicalized in some way, and (typically) assigned a lifecycle state, a unique ID, and an owner. These are the things that make a piece of content an asset.’

Vernon CMS applies professional standards in collection management practice. It is the result of careful research and skilful development by Vernon Systems, a team of museum and IT professionals committed to promoting excellence in collection management solutions. lookat.me fromme is the product of a focus on creating partnerships with museum professionals and to refining and developing their systems, in order that an institution may enhance access, visibility and community engagement; plus develop and maximise the value of its heritage collection and better manage its resources.
