Let’s Edit with Media Composer – ADVANCED – Matte Key Transitions 2

In this lesson, Kevin P McAuliffe wraps up his talk on transitions by talking about Matte Key transitions in Media Composer, much like the ones you can purchase from companies like Rampant Design Tools. Not only are these transitions easy to set up, but with a little bit of forethought, you alter the transitions by using some effects from BCC 10, to give them a new and edgier look!

Elements from companies like Rampant Design Tools are a big part of my workflow, and when it comes to transitions, they have a ton of different style transitions for me to choose from.  Now, companies like Rampant need to make these elements accessible for everyone on whatever NLE or compositing application you might be working on, so it’s up to us, the Media Composer editor to figure out how to best work with these elements in our timelines.  This is where Matte Keys come into play.  Whether you’re using them to set up a transition, or using them on an element that provided to you with a matte, it’s an important technique to understand how it works.
