Hollywood Tools LLC is set to improve the functionality of digital asset management (DAM) solutions with the unveiling of VidKey at NAB 2012. VidKey will bring added value to any DAM solution, including Hollywood Tools’ own RemoteMyProject.
A new tool has been produced by Hollywood Tools to address the operating frustrations experienced with the use of video and audio assets containing speech. Hollywood Tools is a company born from the need of its sister company’s production and postproduction workflow. The implementation of its own DAM solution brought attention to the lack of an efficient means to search the content of a video or audio production. While L2 Digital, Hollywood Tools’ sister company, appreciated the value of a DAM solution it asked for a tool within RemoteMyProject that would enable it to search the content of endless video tapes without the long hours of tagging, categorizing, and indexing of source video. And so, Hollywood Tools now introduces VidKey.
Long hours of tagging, categorizing, and indexing keywords can be repurposed because VidKey offers an intelligent remedy. VidKey is designed to generate metadata from speech in a video or audio asset. The metadata is inserted into an asset management system such as Hollywood Tools’ RemoteMyProject, Avid’s Interplay, Apple’s Final Cut’s Server, Levels Beyond’s Reach Engine, Cat DV, or any other asset management system with integration capability. The result is a smart tool which enables the user to search the content of their video or audio assets within the system of their choice. VidKey brings a new generation of efficiency for digital asset management users.
