HP Envy 110 e-all-in-one wireless wi-fi printer fax scanner review Prophotocoalition.com photography

I’ve had the chance to use HP’s new Envy 110 e-All-in-one printer/copier/scanner/fax, and I love it. It’s amazingly easy to set up, has it’s own touch screen to walk you through connecting it to your Wi-Fi (and a LOT more, but we’ll get to that in a bit).

It’s about the most wireless device of its kind. It doesn’t need to be connected to a computer.

One of the coolest things about the Envy is that it comes with an email address. Well, you can sign up for an “@hpeprint.com” email address, then you can wirelessly print to your printer from ANYWHERE. If you look up an article on your phone, you can email it to the printer. If you’re location scouting, email yourself pictures of the place for your files, they’ll already be printed when you get back to the studio. If you want to read an article, you can have someone email it to you. You don’t have to get it at your computer, the printer gets the email and prints it without a computer.

It also works with every computer and other device in your office or house that can print to wirelessly print and scan over your Wi-Fi network. I’ve scanned photos wirelessly, it does a great job. Perfect for studios or families with multiple computers but only wanting to use one scanner/printer.

Without even connecting it to a computer, you can upload photos to or print from Facebook. The large, bright touch screen lets you easily navigate through menus and widgets to scan and print. There’s a mapquest widget that lets you print directions to anywhere. There are Disney character coloring pages and activities for the kids that you can print directly from the Envy. There are actually tons of built-in widgets that let you access all kinds of content, and you can add more if you like.

Physically, it takes up about the same amount of room as a typical scanner. Not a very big footprint at all. To make it even smaller, the touch panel folds out to make it easier to see and use, though anyone pressing hard on it will likely push it back down. That same panel also slides out of the way when you print something and another little print shelf slides out to hold the paper, then when you remove the print, it all returns to it’s smaller, closed size.

It is really easy to set up, there are on-screen instructions. If you want to use it without a computer at all, you can. It has multimedia slots so you can insert almost any SD card, memory stick, mmc or USB flash drive.

When inserted, the screen offers you easy options for printing, including 3 up on a page or full page borderless.

The borderless prints are out of this world. They have enough detail to show every flaw in my smartphone’s 8 megapixel camera. Prints out of my DSLR cameras look amazing.

The Envy 110 can print up to 7 ppm in black, 4ppm in color. It can copy up to 30 cpm black and 25 cpm in color. Optical scanner resolution is 1200×1200 ppi. Print quality is outstanding. If you are going for print quality in both photos and text/graphics pages, this is a great device. Unless you’re on a budget. The replacement inks are pricey. Genuine HP inks are said to last a long time. I can’t speak for the longevity at this point, but everything I’ve printed (or anyone else emailing or otherwise printing to it looks great.

Overall this is a very useful, easy-to-use printer for any person or family. The wireless features are amazing, it connects with any computer, smartphone or tablet with Wi-Fi or email capability, and you can even use it without a computer. I love that you can email photos to it from anywhere, great for seniors that want photos of the grandkids. The touch screen interface means you can use it easily even without a computer. The small size and very elegant looks make it look great in any home or office. The inks can get expensive, but the quality of the printing is very high. It’s fast and quiet.
