First look: Ulanzi launches D200X Creative Deck command pad

Ulanzi D200X

Ulanzi today introduced the D200X Creative Deck, a US$95.99 creator control hub which I expect to review soon. Ulanzi says that the D200X (which came after the prior D200) designed for videographers, filmmakers, editors and livestreamers who demand faster, more integrated workflows. Building on the original D200 platform, the D200X combines visual macro controls, precision rotary input, and high-speed hardware connectivity in one compact device.

Ulanzi states:

At its core, Ulanzi D200X is a multi-dimensional control system designed to streamline complex creative tasks. The device features 14 customizable LCD keys, 3 programmable knobs and 2 paging buttons, allowing creators to trigger shortcuts, adjust parameters, and navigate workflows with tactile precision. Compared with traditional button-only controllers, this multi-dimensional control system allows faster interaction for tasks such as color grading, audio adjustment, lighting control, and livestream switching. The knobs represent a major upgrade over previous generations, enabling fine adjustments that are particularly valuable for post-production workflows.

8-in-1 Docking Station

Beyond control functionality, the D200X integrates a high-density 8-in-1 I/O matrix, combining power delivery, high-speed data transfer, 4K display output, and audio monitoring into a single solution. This replaces multiple peripherals, reduces desktop cable clutter, and serves as a mobile workstation for multi-device creators.

The integrated I/O system includes:

With the built-in HDMI output, creators can run a secondary display directly from the device, enabling true dual-screen workflows for editing timelines, monitoring previews, and managing assets.

Open Software Ecosystem + Full-Scene Adaptation

The D200X is powered by Ulanzi Studio, an open control platform that supports a wide range of creative and productivity workflows including video editing, image processing, livestream management, audio control, and automation.

Unlike many competing solutions, the ecosystem removes common usage barriers:

To further enhance professional workflows, the D200X can also be paired with the Ulanzi Dial Editing Assistant, a wireless rotary controller designed for precision editing and streamlined production workflows when paired with D200X.

The Dial features a high-precision rotary wheel and tactile buttons optimized for timeline navigation, color grading adjustments, and parameter fine-tuning. With Bluetooth connectivity supporting up to three devices, it provides creators with a flexible wireless editing interface.

Ulanzi D200X is deeply integrated with Ulanzi Studio 3.0, as well as multiple Ulanzi hardware accessories, allowing creators to control both software and hardware from a single interface.  It can directly control compatible Ulanzi lighting systems and integrate with smart platforms such as Philips Hue, Home Assistant, Govee, Nanoleaf and Yeelight, enabling creators to manage their entire studio environment from one centralized control hub.

In the future, the manufacturer plans to have Ulanzi Studio continue evolving through regular updates, with new plugins and presets added over time to provide creators with a long-term, adaptable workflow solution.
