The Artesia DAM Creative Desktop provides a natural extension to the desktop experience, including an intuitive folder-based interface to the digital media repository within the native file system viewer and desktop plug-ins that add Artesia DAM-specific functions within desktop applications. All these tools are accessible with a web connection, but without the use of a web browser. Users of the Artesia DAM Creative Desktop can easily access, share, distribute, reuse, and archive all types of digital content, including compound layout documents composed in desktop applications such as Adobe InDesign, Quark XPress and Adobe Illustrator.

For graphic designers, photo editors and layout designers, the focus of their daily work is on producing, reviewing and editing content files. They are content producers and content consumers, and their days are centered around creative workflows at the desktop. For these users, working with the Artesia DAM system cannot come at the cost of changing their well-established work patterns and toolsets.

Folders
Artesia DAM facilitates navigation through the asset repository from desktop file browsers with its Web-DAV based feature, Artesia DAM Folders. Whether running Mac Finder or Windows Explorer, users can download, import, and immediately access digital assets without the hassle of launching applications manually from their desktop.

Creative Desktop Upload Wizard
With Artesia DAM, users can upload embedded or linked compound documents such as layout files or action projects, or check them out via the Creative Desktop Upload Wizard. The upload wizard can even handle complex uploads and guides users through selecting a project to which the uploaded asset will be related. Access to the Creative Desktop Upload Wizard is embedded in other desktop applications, making it immediately accessible to your creative workflows.

As an example, from Adobe InDesign, users can launch the Creative Desktop to intelligently upload layouts and their placed graphics into Artesia DAM. In addition, Creative Desktop gives users the option of creating a PDF preview and a multi-page preview / proxy.
