Createasphere, a global community builder for the entertainment technology industry, delivered two days of innovation, connections, engaging panels, intensives and a exhibit area filled with new tools and technologies at the Burbank Marriott. Among the features was a keynote with Peter Deming, ASC; an innovative transmedia keynote by the founders of Emmy(r) Award-winning Fourth Wall Studios; the launch of the first-ever Digital Process Workflow Lab; and hands-on demonstration and illustration of the camera operators’ work in Gear Alley as well as a “How’d You Get That Shot?” – a compelling discussion from members of the Society of Camera Operators (SOC).

The first-ever Digital Process Workflow (DPW) Lab launched with industry leading partners including Dell, ARRI, Technicolor, Adobe, 5th Kind, FilmLight, Signiant, Levels Beyond, Quantum, Codex, and others. It took attendees on an end-to-end walk-through of an integrated cloud environment and gave them an up-close look of the evolution of content creation, distribution and management.

Award-winning cinematographer Peter Deming, ASC, held the audience captive as he delivered his keynote, giving a sneak peek behind the scenes on the making of Oz: The Great and Powerful, slated to hit theaters in March 2013. Deming also shared his thoughts on collaboration, creativity and technology in moviemaking and commercial production.

Gear Alley allowed attendees to get their hands on the latest in cranes, dollies, rigs, lighting and more and meet the professionals who put this gear to work on a daily basis. Emmy Award-winner Eddie Barber and SOC President Chris Tufty went Shoulder To Shoulder with the latest equipment and described their personal experiences working with the latest tools.

Returning for its third year to Los Angeles, the Post Production Master Class – an opportunity for high-quality information and connection for professionals in post production – took place on November 8th and featured such panels as From Set to Editorial: A Keynote Conversation; How Visual Effects Tools Are Changing Everything; The Evolving Post Production Career; and Behind the Scenes in Award-Winning Storytelling: The Oscar Panel featuring Hughes Winborne, ACE, discussing how he creates Oscar-winning images. Experts were on hand from Technicolor, Encore, MTI Films, FotoKem and many others.

Next up for Createasphere in 2013 is the Digital Asset Management (DAM) Conference and Expo Los Angeles February 27-28; Executive Marketplace for Houses of Worship in Chicago July 10-11; and the Entertainment Technology Expo in Los Angeles November 6-7.
