Content Management Interoperability Services

CMISis currently a proposed standard to use Web services for sharing information among and between ECM repositories to ensure interoperability for clients with multiple ECM systems. The specification is currently in the early stages of development at OASIS (Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards). The proposed standard:

• Is designed to work across multiple ECM repositories
• Decouples Web services from Content and the CM repository
• Provides common Web Services and interfaces
• Removes platform and language dependencies
• Supports application development and “mash-up”
