IRVINE, Calif. – Feb. 17, 2009 – Compix Media, a leading developer of professional-quality character generators (CGs), today announced that it is expanding its HD product offerings with a powerful new line of single- and dual-channel HD-ready CGs. Leveraging the performance and quality of Compix Media’s flagship resolution-independent software and SD-SDI hardware, the new HD-ready models provide the immediate SD functionality required by many digital broadcasters while supporting a smooth transition to HD. A simple keycode purchase is all that is required to upgrade the HD-ready systems from SD-SDI to HD.

Available in single- and dual-channel configurations, the new HD-ready CGs leverage all of the same great functionality and hardware/software feature sets offered by the company’s current CG offerings, while incorporating the on-board CPU and memory required to handle the pixel and data volumes demanded by HD. With this horsepower, each system is fully capable of supporting HD without any hardware upgrades. The simple purchase and input of a Compix Media keycode allows users to migrate to HD-capable CG operations in less than a day. Operators can launch HD work using the same software and graphics libraries that supported SD production, without being held up by a learning curve or the need to recreate graphics files.
Dedicated logo insertion, EAS message generation, and automated template-based sports-score generation are some of the other optional features supported by the HD-ready product line. Logo generation is offered via Compix Media’s NewsScroll, which creates up to two independent crawls, manually updated or automatically updated from text files or RSS feeds. NewsScroll also incorporates static and animated logos, a real-time clock, and automatic weather updates.
The HD-ready line is compatible with all previous Compix Media CG systems and operates with other Compix Media optional applications including AutoCast.
The HD-ready line includes the LCG8050R HDRDY single-channel character generator package and the dual-channel CYNERG SDI/HD-RDY character generator package. All packages come complete with GenCG, Scheduler Suite, Art Explosion 300,000 premium quality images, 4,000 TrueType® fonts, 100 backgrounds, 100 textures, and pre-built templates.
