Coding kitchen

“Coding kitchen” enables developers using the Canto Cumulus platform to prepare products in time for Cumulus 8 launch.

BERLIN 19 FEB 2009 —Canto® continues to steam roll toward the release of Cumulus 8, now by seeding Canto partner developers with the information needed to prepare their products for the Cumulus 8 release, expected later this year.

The Canto “Coding Kitchen” offered attendees in-depth training about forthcoming technologies in Cumulus 8 (now undergoing beta testing), introduced them to advanced new application programming interface (API) options, and highlighted new business opportunities the release makes available to them.

Canto CEO Ulrich Knocke kicked off the two-day event, held in Berlin. Canto CTO, Thomas Schleu, and senior software engineer, Christoph Wagner, conducted the training.

“There was no doubt we needed to offer this workshop,” explains Schleu. “The Cumulus 8 platform includes so many new capabilities, and we knew the sooner we got the updated API into the hands of developers, the sooner we’d see the fantastic new products we know they can build on it.”

Wagner adds: “Our partner developers also now have the tools and resources they need to update current products to take advantage of the incredible performance increases we’re seeing thanks to the updated Cumulus 8 API.

” Enthusiasm for Cumulus 8 was clear among attendees.

“Learning about the new Cumulus 8 API was like opening a box of quality chocolates only to find many more layers under what you see on top,” says Peter van de Poele of Belgium’s XLent Solutions. “And, I guess that’s fitting, considering what day this is!”

The event closed on Valentine’s Day. Canto’s general partner meeting will be held in March, during which sales and integration partners will be introduced to Cumulus 8.
