Civolution Demonstrates Leading Media Protection and Monetization Solutions at NAB 2010

Civolution, the leader in the identification, management and monetization of media content, is exhibiting at NAB for the first time since it assumed full ownership of the Thomson STS watermarking business in July 2009. At NAB (booth SU6502), Civolution will be demonstrating its newly integrated solutions portfolio, including: NexGuard – PayTV & Online; NexGuard – Pre-release; Teletrax broadcast monitoring; and Mediahedge, the fingerprint-based content identification and management platform.

“We are ready to showcase our integrated portfolio at NAB 2010, only nine months after the acquisition of Thomson,” says Alex Terpstra, CEO, Civolution. ‘’From protection of media assets during the pre-release stage through to online management and monetization, our watermarking and fingerprinting applications have proven to be powerful tools for piracy deterrence as well as key enablers for new business and revenue opportunities. Civolution’s integrated portfolio has brought the best of the former Philips and Thomson Content Identification technologies and expertise together, offering the most value to our customers.”

Solutions on display at NAB 2010:

NexGuard – PayTV & Online, the unique PayTV solution that allows customers to watermark and make each media asset unique to an individual PayTV subscriber, arrives at NAB with new functionality. It now includes the ability to embed a watermark directly into the compressed and encrypted video bit-stream. The resulting bit-stream can be played back on the subscriber’s device such as digital settop boxes or, if desired, can be exported to a connected device or any other web-connected media device e.g. PC or TV; an essential feature for service providers that want to provide early-release movie content to consumers.

NexGuard – Pre-release, the versatile forensic marking suite of applications for pre-release media assets, is available for tape (up to HDCAM-SR), disc (DVD) or file based workflows. NexGuard watermarking for digital content delivery can be organized upon format transcoding or upon file transfer. It now integrates a specifically designed application to secure on-line transfer of review and preview versions in H.264 format. The new system allows for high-speed digital watermarking of content and can be integrated in any file download, streaming or delivery system.

Mediahedge – Media Management & Monetization, is a combined audio and video fingerprint-based content identification and management platform. It enables media monetization and management applications such as content filtering, airplay verification, asset management and metadata association for consumer devices. Content owners or publishers can automatically identify large volumes of content at the time of web upload and trigger pre-defined rules before copyrighted material becomes publicly available. Rules can vary, ranging from content being blocked before online publication, re-directing users to specific websites, to linking content to targeted advertisements.

Teletrax Broadcast Monitoring, provides content owners with a solution to precisely and rapidly identify and monitor where, when and how much of their content is being aired. The latest functionality launched at NAB includes new advances in fingerprinting technology and the launch of a new multi-detector incorporation both watermarking and fingerprinting detection technologies, and new file-based embedding solutions. Fingerprinting enables dual-purpose broadcast and internet monitoring, allowing clients to expand the scope of content management and monetization. This is a major step forward for Civolution as it continues to enhance its broadcast monitoring services and accelerate its fingerprint-based detection network expansion. Civolution is today the only company providing both watermarking and fingerprinting technologies for airplay verification.
