Blackmagic Design today announced HDLink Pro DisplayPort, a new model of the popular HDLink Pro monitoring converter range that allows new low cost deep color DisplayPort computer monitors to be used for SDI monitoring. HDLink Pro DisplayPort allows any supported DisplayPort monitor to be used for incredible HD-SDI monitoring.
HDLink Pro DisplayPort supports 3 Gb/s SDI for twice the SDI data rate than normal HD-SDI while retaining full compatibility with regular HD-SDI and standard definition SDI equipment. 3 Gb/s SDI is required for new video standard support, such as 1080p50, 1080p/59.94, RGB 4:4:4 video using a single BNC type connection, or 2K via SDI for high resolution real time 2048 x 1556 feature film editing.
3 Gb/s SDI is now featured on virtually every single Blackmagic Design product and when connected to HDLink Pro and a 30 inch DisplayPort monitor, allows full resolution real time 23.98, 24 and 25 fps 2K workflow. 2K via SDI allows 2K film editing to use the same easy to manage workflows that video editors currently benefit from.
HDLink Pro DisplayPort includes powerful color management via built in 3D lookup tables. 3D lookup tables allow any feature film stock to be simulated so editors can always see the correct color of the final film output. Popular 3D lookup tables can be loaded for various film stocks, and HDLink Pro DisplayPort is compatible with third party software products for generating lookup tables. Included in HDLink Utility software on Windows and Mac OS X allows full control for adjusting tables and generating custom “looks” for download into HDLink Pro.
When editing with complex 5.1 surround sound audio tracks, HDLink Pro DisplayPort includes 6 separate channels of consumer level audio output which can be connected to a wide range of HiFi equipment for low cost audio monitoring.
