Blackmagic Design surprises everyone by dropping the price on the 4K Production camera as they announce the camera is shipping world-wide. Will this new lower price affect those who have pre-ordered the camera?
NEW LOWER PRICE
There is one thing for sure… Blackmagic Design knows how to lift customer's spirits. Ten months after the 4K Blackmagic Production Camera was announced; the camera ships to shooters world-wide with a new lower price. Originally, priced as the 4K camera for 4K, to be more exact it was priced at $3,995, and now Blackmagic as seen fit to drop the price to $2,995.
PRE-ORDERED? NO NEED TO WORRY
If you were one of the early adopters then you have no need to worry. The new lower price is not only available now, but to those with preorders as well. I'm sure there are many people who are very pleased to have a little extra wieght in their wallets after this announcement. Actually, I know of one and while I cannot speak on his behalf… I have a hunch his week just turned out to be a great one.
WHY THE LOWER PRICE?
While I am not a huge fan of asking why something is less expensive than originally thought. This lower price does make one wonder. Should we expect a new camera at NAB 2014? Oh, to speculate… Either way, Here is a message about the new 4K price from Blackmagic Design CEO Grant Petty.
WHAT ONE GETS FOR $2,995
4K for $3K. This is inexpensive. Forget about the Global Shutter. Forget about the fact that this camera is just as easy to use as the Blackmagic Cinema Camera. Forget about Super 35mm sized sensor. This is a 4K camera for $2,995. If you are looking to get into the 4K game there really is not an excuse now.
