BenQ SW271 4K UHD: made for photographers

BenQ SW271 4K UHD: made for photographers 1

Engineered for Adobe RGB color management accuracy and high dynamic range visualization, the BenQ SW271 also offers 100% Rec.709/ sRGB, 93% DCI-P3 and supports HDR content. Photographers should check it, but it may also interest anyone dealing with sensitive color editing.

The SW271 builds upon the success of its award-winning predecessor, the 27″ SW2700PT QHD display, and sets, claims BenQ, “a new benchmark for wide gamut monitors taking image quality to the next level with the addition of HDR capabilities.”

Engineered for Adobe RGB color management accuracy and high dynamic range visualization, the SW271 ensures extraordinary clarity of fine details and textures for an optimal viewing and visual-intensive work experience. BenQ states that “outdoor and nature photography will never look more true-to-life thanks to the greater range of color reproduction for shades of blue and green, and HDR capability that allows the image to appear closer to what people see in the natural world.”

Complemented by 10-bit color depth, creative professionals can, adds BenQ, “enjoy the smoothest color gradations with more than one billion colors. A USB-C port quickly transmits video and data, including 4K content, with only one convenient cable and performs hardware calibration with ease.”

“We are proud to present SW271, which joins our full line of professional monitors purpose-engineered for photographers,” said Conway Lee, President of BenQ Corporation when the monitor was first announced. “SW271 brings photo enthusiasts professional-grade performance, specialized tools, and advanced calibration for color-critical applications.”

To display each color across its broad color gamut with perfect accuracy, SW271 utilizes an advanced 14-bit 3D LUT to achieve Delta E values of two or better. Technicolor Color Certified to meet strict color accuracy standards used in Hollywood and entertainment media, SW271’s 10-bit 27″ IPS panel delivers authentic colors as envisioned by content creators. Producing intense photographic realism and color depth by expanding the dynamic range between true darkness and high brightness, SW271 clearly displays high-resolution images from sophisticated DSLRs and other HDR source devices.

“The progression of visual tools and applications in this digital era calls for display technologies to advance at full capacity to meet the rising demand for larger screens, and 4K resolutions to fill them,” said Steve Yang, senior director at BenQ America Corp. “BenQ is committed to ensuring that the finest detail is precise, so designers are never caught off-guard with their finished piece. At Siggraph, attendees will see our latest color-accurate displays, including our new PD2500Q, which meets the strictest color space standards, and the SW271, which offers photographers convenience and clarity for exacting details.”

The two monitors are showcased alongside BenQ’s lineup of displays created for graphic design, photography, CAD/CAM, animation and video post-production professionals. One of the monitors on show is the BenQ PD2710QC 100% sRGB and Rec. 709 monitor, the world’s first design monitor to include a USB-C Docking Station for MacBook and PC users, allowing designers to charge devices, transfer data, transmit audio and video and connect to the internet, all through the convenience of a single cable. Simultaneously delivering up to 61 watts of power to a laptop or mobile device, the 27″ (2560×1440) IPS LED display’s single 5-Gbps Super Speed USB-C connection powers its integrated hub and features multiple audio, video, network and USB ports, in addition to uncompressed crystal-clear 2K QHD video quality.

For graphic design creatives, the Technicolor Color-Certified 32″ 4K UHD BenQ PD3200U monitor with workflow-efficient features will be on display. This creative canvas features 10-bit color depth color, 100% sRGB and Rec. 709, giving designers a wide, one-billion-color-accurate palette to meet their artistic requirements. The panel expands the working space and offers a wider viewing angle (178 degrees in both horizontal and vertical planes) with crystal-clear clarity at all angles. Three premium display modes are tailor-made for designers to easily configure settings to best fit their preferences, including a Dark Room Mode for dimmed environments, a CAD/CAM Mode for superior image contrast and an Animation Mode, providing 10 levels of display brightness to enhance details in dark shadows.

For photography professionals, BenQ will also showcase its 32″ SW320 4K UHD HDR monitor, along with the award-winning 27″ SW2700PT QHD display, — TiPA’s Best Photo Monitor of 2016. Both the SW320 and SW2700PT offer 99% Adobe RGB, 100% sRGB and Rec. 709 spaces to deliver the most accurate color reproduction with the aid of easy-to-use tools for hardware calibration. The SW Series photography monitors offer unparalleled technology and have been built to reproduce images with the same precise detail in which they are captured, delivering true-to-life image quality.
