AUTONOMY IS #1 IN ENTERPRISE SEARCH, ACCORDING TO LEADING MARKET RESEARCH FIRM.

Autonomy Corporation plc a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that Autonomy received the highest ranking in Ovum’s 2010 Decision Matrix for Enterprise Search and Retrieval (ESR). The report evaluated twelve vendors including Endeca, Exalead, Google, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, Recommind, and Vivisimo, and named Autonomy the clear leader in the ESR market.

The Ovum report, which states “the ESR market is growing at a rapid pace,” says the following about Autonomy:

“Autonomy is the clear leader of the ESR market and is an automatic shortlist into any vendor selection exercise…it is a natural fit for organizations that are looking at ESR from a strategic perspective.”

“The vendor is an order of magnitude larger than most other peers in ESR and delivers the most sophisticated and comprehensive search functionalities among peers.”

The Ovum report is another example of Autonomy’s continued momentum as the clear leader in sophisticated, strategic enterprise search. As reported in Autonomy’s recent Q3 2010 earnings, the company’s OEM business grew by 30% year-on-year, signing twelve Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) deals in the most recent quarter. Autonomy also secured 20 transactions with customers over $1 million in Q3 2010. Both metrics point to the powerful “network effect” of Autonomy’s sophisticated search technology – as high-technology companies and customers alike are increasingly turning to Autonomy to power, promote, and protect their products and their organizations – further strengthening Autonomy’s position as the market-leader in high-end search.

“We are pleased to see that Ovum has recognized the transition from the days of legacy keyword search to a new era of meaning-based technologies in its report,” said Mike Lynch, CEO of Autonomy.
