Autodesk to bring Toxik, Mudbox and ImageModeler to Mac

It is now official – from the website: “To coincide with the annual Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco, Autodesk, Inc. announced today that it has expanded its portfolio of Macintosh 2D and 3D software tools for entertainment, multimedia and design professionals. The three new 2009 products for Mac OS X are Autodesk Toxik procedural compositing software, Autodesk Mudbox digital sculpting and texture painting software, and Autodesk ImageModeler image-based modeling and photogrammetry software. As well, 2009 versions of Autodesk Maya 3D modeling, animation and rendering software and Autodesk Stitcher photo-stitching software are already available on the Mac.”

The press release goes on to break down the products. Toxik is a nodal compositing program which retails for $3.495 and competes directly with Shake, Nuke, and to a lesser extent, After Effects. Mudbox ($745, available in February) is favored by 3D artists for creating organic models such as characters and creatures and competes directly with Z-Brush. ImageModeler ($995) is a photogrammetry application which creates 3D models from photographs.
