AKG Revamps Headphone Line

AKG unveiled its new and improved line of headphones offering even higher levels of performance and flexibility for recording and broadcast engineers, musicians and audiophiles. The improved line includes the legendary Studio series K 141 MK II, K 240 MK II, K 171 MK II, K 271 MK II, and K 77, K 99, IP 2 models.

“AKG is dedicated to maintaining the highest level of performance throughout our product line,” explained Sonja Malzer, Product Manager, AKG Acoustics. “The update and redesign of our Studio-Line headphones reflects this goal of providing the professional audio market with the best value and performance available.”

K 141 MK II is a dynamic, on-ear, semi-open headphone that includes a self-adjusting headband, and comes with both leatherette and velvet ear pads. This new headphone also comes with a detachable 10-ft straight cable and a 16-ft coiled output cable. Available in a stage blue color, the K 141 MK II offers a frequency range of 18 Hz to 24 kHz, maximum input power of 200 mW and a rated impedance of 55 ohms. Designed for professional use, the K 141 MK II headphones are ideal for studio monitoring applications.

K 240 MK II is a dynamic, around-ear, semi-open headphone that also includes a self-adjusting headband and both leatherette and velvet earpads, and comes with a detachable 10-ft straight cable and a 16-ft coiled output cable. The stage blue K 240 MK II has a frequency range of 15 Hz to 25 k Hz, maximum input power of 200 mW and a rated impedance of 55 ohms. Designed for studio monitoring, the K 240 MK II headphones can also be deployed for single-ear use.

K 171 MK II is a dynamic, on-ear, closed-back headphone designed for on stage monitoring and tracking as well as DJ mixing. The stage blue K 171 MK II comes with both leatherette and velvet earpads, as well as detachable 10-ft straight and 16-ft coiled output cables. Offering a frequency range of 18 Hz to 26 k Hz, a maximum input power of 200 mW and a rated impedance of 55 ohms, the K 171 MK II’s high efficiency and wide dynamic range make it ideally suited for tracking and mobile DJ use.

K 271 MK II dynamic, around-ear, closed-back headphones are designed for playback recording, on-stage and live monitoring applications. Offering a frequency range of 16 Hz to 28 kHz, maximum input power of 200 mW, rated impedance of 55 ohms, and a stage blue color, the K 271 MK II also comes with both leatherette and velvet earpads plus detachable 10-ft straight and 16-ft coiled output cables.

K 77 dynamic, around-ear, closed-back headphones offer an exceptional price/performance ratio for home recording musicians or stereo listening applications. The dark blue colored K 77 power performance stereo headphones feature comfortable leatherette earpads and offer a frequency range of 18 Hz to 20 kHz, maximum input power of 200 mW and rated impedance of 32 ohms for use with computers, MP3 players and digital keyboards.

K 99 dynamic, around-ear, semi-open headphones are dedicated for portable MP3, CD players and notebooks, offering an outstanding value to end-users. The K 99 natural sound stereo headphones are equipped with soft leatherette earpads and offer a frequency range of 18 Hz to 22 kHz, maximum input power of 200 mW and rated impedance of 32 ohms.

The AKG IP 2 in-ear headphones, originally packaged only with the IVM 4 wireless monitor system, is now available separately. The IP 2 offers total acoustic isolation that blocks out all ambient noise. To ensure perfect fit and comfort, the IP 2 comes with three different-sized sleeves that are easily interchangeable. The grey colored, dynamic, in-ear headphones have a frequency range of 12Hz to 23.5 kHz, maximum input power of 20 mW and rated impedance of 16 ohms.
