Johnathon has worked in film and television production for over two decades. He got his official start when he was 18yrs directing, shooting and editing documentaries in the U.S. Air Force’s 2nd Combat Camera Sq. where he spent time in combat operational zones documenting real-world events.
After his military service, Johnathon went to work for Avid Technology, Inc., a leader in film & TV technology. As a specialist and spokesman for their editing products, he managed cutting-edge workflows for the films Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Collateral and Mystic River. He became a Master Editor and Trainer at Avid, edited independent features and shorts, and directed several digital shorts pushing new technological platforms.
Johnathon directed and produced his first feature film in the winter of 2010 in his hometown of Detroit called Truck 20’s Location. He’s currently VP, of Community Development for Runway, and consults with both software companies creating film tools, and lectures on film workflow for the
Producers Guild of America. He’s also co-founder of National Organization of Black Directors.
